During the reconstruction of a refueling
station owned by MOL Inc., in Eger, as prime contractor the ÖKOPLAN-E Bt. made
an environmental survey. The investigation uncovered a gasoline-contamination
caused by leaking of storage tanks, concentrated in the area of older,
disassembled and unearthed former storage tanks. As an operator contractor, the
designing and the establishment of the necessary remediation-system was made by
our company.
During our operation about 200 liters of free
phase floating hydrocarbon was skimmed, and the affected groundwater was
treated with the use of air-stripper equipment and the injection of enzymatic
solution into the geological medium. As a result the initial 30-50 mg/l
concentration was decreased to 0,2 mg/l. Additionally soil aeration was carried
out, which resulted in the reduction of the contamination concentration in the
soil air, from the initial 2000 ppm to 50 ppm. Ultimately the contamination was
completely eliminated from the
soil – groundwater – soil air system.
