The COMCO MARTECH Magyarország Ltd. made an
environmental inspection at the depot of the Magyar Gördülőcsapágy Művek Inc.
in Debrecen, which uncovered a significant hydrocarbon contamination in the soil
and in the groundwater. Our company received a commission for the development
of a remediation plan, the elimination of the contamination and the post
monitoring. During the intervention it was not necessary to treat the ground
separately because the use of the air-stripping towers equipped with activated
carbon air filters for the cleaning of the groundwater had a „leaching effect”
which made it possible to treat it simultaneously. During the remediation
270 000 m³ contaminated water was yielded and treated and the
contamination was successfully eliminated, which was confirmed by monitoring tests.
To avoid the transfer of the fortuitous
residual contaminants several damaged wells were disassembled or their cement casing
was repaired.
