MÁV Inc. to continue the remediation of an NAPL
contamination in the area of their chemical recovery plant in Záhony which
started in 1995. Thanks to the references and the experience in using enzymatic
treatment technologies, the tender was won by our company.
Groudnwater treatment was carried out with
air-stripping towers equipped with a sand and emulsion separator, and activated
carbon filters, and with skimmers for free phase floating hydrocarbons. As soil
treatment, we used an air-sparging well system to inject enzymatic fluids in
the geological medium.
During the remediation 7 516 098 m3
of groundwater was yielded and purified, 1 964 225 liters of floating
oil was skimmed, and the affected soil was treated. Ultimately the contamination
limits set by the authorities were reached, and the most important remediation
aims were fulfilled, which for confirmed by the follow up monitoring
measurements as well.
